jack wolfskin // Roadtrip to Nicaragua

Jack Wolfskin appointed intention to produce photo and film material for the entire brand, product and trade communication in order to reintroduce the 2013 summer travel collection into the product portfolio.

In line with the demands of a comeback, the result had to be really ”punchy” – in the form of an atmospheric story full of holiday emotion, awakening longing and stimulating the spirit of discovery. The requirements included shots for the catalogue, website and folder (including layout) as well as an image film.

The solution

The perfect destination was crucial to success: Nicaragua, that still largely undeveloped country between the Pacific and the Caribbean, offers diverse scenery – volcanos, a foreign culture, jungle and ocean. The photo and film concepts formed the cornerstone for the full service offered to Jack Wolfskin. Based on these storyboards and mood film were produced. This was followed by the complete set planning. Models and locations were selected, the various scenes developed. We were supported by local guides from our international network.

And then we got started: having arrived at Managua airport, we divided the travel collection, camera equipment and provisions between two vehicles and started our road trip at a tropically moist 30 degrees. As usual we worked as an efficient micro-team: on tour along with the models from the USA and Europe were our photographer, a production manager and assistant from intention plus guide and driver. The entire product line was shot within only seven days of production – and that included all media channels. With only one photographer, photos and films were shot in parallel for all scenes and locations. This allowed us to document and play out the adventure and story with equal emphasis in both photo and film. Mission Road Trip a success; brand communication successful too.
